Edinburgh to London fast run

We were discussing at work today times for a fast drive from Edinburgh to London,I know there was was the bentley race against what I think was against the flying scotsman steam train although that was a long time ago, however I know Edinburgh to Great yarmouth was done in 4hrs 30mins, which is not all motorways and a similar distance, like the M25 runs, somebody must know someone that has tried it in comparison to a modern train journey.
