Your last , great drive?

Had to take the 993 to work today as having the summer tyres fitted. By chance the weather was perfect: sunny but not too hot. And the Swiss countryside in spring is even more lovely than normal. So I did the only sensible thing and took a (long) diversion over some really good roads, rather than my normal route on the motorway. Brilliant! It has been a long time since I enjoyed a drive as much as that. And reminded me (not that I really needed it) how great the 993 is. OK. It is not that fast and the noise could be better but it is just so satisfying to drive. Everything just gels together perfectly and it is soft enough that at sane speeds you can feel it moving about underneath you. Lovely.

Picked up my S2k in Jan so I've been waiting for some nice weather to really get to grips with it.
We got that last week!
Sun was shining, I had the day off and just had a custom exhaust made up which sounds awesome so did about 100 miles of Hampshires finest country side with the roof down! So much fun, best car I've ever owned and it's worth the wait to use it properly in these conditions when the roads are hot and you can feel the tyres sticking. Love it!

To answer your question, last friday was a great drive.
I wasn't able to get up to the welsh countryside due to time restraints but I left a works party early and put the roof down and went for a drive down the mumbles waterfront (google maps "swansea, mumbles" to see what its like, but imagine it with lots of sun
) on what must have been the hottest day we've had in swansea this year.Wasn't going at all fast but it was just nice to cruise along at a calm speed enjoying the moment

Okay, that video isn't me. I was in a TVR Chimaera rather than an R1, but God damn that road is good. It's the GI-682 between Lloret de Mar and Saint Feliu, and the video doesn't begin to do it justice. It's the twistiest road I've ever driven - like Zig Zag Hill extended by 10 miles and relocated it to the Mediterranean coast - it was epic.
Admittedly, it may be my last great drive for some time. I broke the crankshaft on the way back...

It's the twistiest road I've ever driven - like Zig Zag Hill extended by 10 miles and relocated it to the Mediterranean coast - it was epic.
Admittedly, it may be my last great drive for some time. I broke the crankshaft on the way back...

Last great drive out was last summer to do the Stelvio, thought the Stelvio was pants, but the Ofen and Umbrail were good.

That road is amazing! We are staying not far from there in July (Roses) so I may look that road up. Although I'll have the 330d with me and not the 993...so not quite as much fun. Must be awesome on a R1...

Borrowed a Cayman S (with sports exhaust) from OPC Reading while my 997 was being serviced. Hungerford-Swindon-Newbury-Wantage and more. Lovely waether, next to nil on the B roads. Marvellous.
Some glorious B roads around here My usual loop is Newbury -> Wantage -> Lambourn -> Hungerford -> back home to Newbury.
