Broken Spring

Is this going to mamge for a couple of days of careful around town driving or not?

Timing is eerything - it broke on the way to drop off our other car, an MB with limphome mode and engine warning light...

My E36 broke both rear springs and they were ok for a week (rear springs so not a disaster and they broke right on the end).

I assume it is a rear spring that went?

nope it's a front on a Volvo S80. No nasty sharp bits appear to be pointed at the tyre, and obviously rally driving is out.

Would be nice to have one car that I can use though...

Yep. Just don't overload the car or it may bottom out.

Really depends on the are of the spring that broke in that case.

I would imagine if you were careful it would be alright. Many people drive around with broken springs and don't even know until the MOT!

Yep, you could say you shouldn't drive it, especially with the pot holes around; but I would just take it easy and it'll be ok as long as the spring hasn't become unseated.

drove my car for a week out of absolute necessity with a broken spring. Just be very careful

First car is not ready, so can't see the garage confirming my diagnosis, and getting a replacement in and fitted today...

I did a trackday on a broken (rear) spring and my car didn't spontaneously blow up and kill me. Should be fine if you take it easy.
