Hi Gents,

I was thinking of using an enhanced map for track days (once every quarter) and then standard map for road use (MK5 GTI).

In doing this would I have to declare my car as "modified" despite the fact it's only "modified" during the time it is on the track?

Tried the insurance company and the guy said it was fine, but if my car ends up in a hedge I'm sure they won't be able to track down the helpful Sam from Ireland who said that...

I'm hoping someone here has an experience to share...in the meantime I'll start typing out a letter to the head office of the insurance company to seek confirmation.

(PS I'm planning on using Bluefin which means I can load/erase maps at will remotely)

Thanks in advance.

I doubt you will be covered for track days so if it's only used on track and not on the road then no need to inform insurer

Why are you not using the remap everyday?

Do you iron your socks out of interest? winksmile

if your car ends up in a hedge I doubt they would reverse engineer your ECU, download the map and analyze it to see if you where running that map at the time of the crash and if it was to blame.

Its just software.

Why not use the bluefin all the time - unless you're very high risk it shouldn't make a big difference. I declared the bluefin map on my vectra vxr (now up to about 300hp/400ftlbs) and with admiral it cost me precisely nothing extra on the premium...

Once you've played with the extra shove the map gives, you'll want it on all the time...

It's my wife's car and she doesn't want the remap for day-to-day driving (heard too many stories that it's hard to get the power down). That might change once she experiences it.

I think she might have ironed my socks once, but they were really badly crinkled so does that count?...

That's interesting, I might just check the premium difference as even if running stock I'd rather have the piece of mind that in the event of needing to claim they don't get funny about the ECU being flashed multiple times...
