Blackwall Tunnel Closure Easter Weekend

For anyone thinking of traveling to east London or through the Blackwall tunnel over the Easter weekend here's a suggestion, STAY AWAY. The south bound tunnel will be closed all weekend, Thursday 21:00 until Tuesday at 05:00. Expect the usual chaos in the area and south bound on the M25 over the bridge.

The problem is that I live south of the river and work half a mile north of the tunnel and I'm working every day except Sunday.

Thanks for the tip, I was supposed to go to St Alban's that weekend but I don't think I'll bother now.

What's the problem - just use the Rotherhithe Tunnel instead.

Been caught out a few times with these closures especially the late opening in the morning and have had to do a VERY quick diversion as above. Thank God the roads are quiet at 4am.

Cheers for the heads up, heading to my brothers in Chingford from Blackheath, so what is normally a 30 min trip will now be a chuffing nightmare

I start at 4am so no problems there, apart from when they shut it completely to let a fking bus through. I'll have to make sure i get finished sharpish and hope the Rotherhithe isn't too busy although I'm not sure how well the two lane south bound works.

Don't they shut it till 5am anyway at the weekends, apart from this easter stuff?

I'm screwed too by the looks of it, I'm north of the river and have a big job in Lewisham I wanted to get cracking on over that weekend. There's always bloody something.

The normal closure times are Sunday 1am to 8am and Sunday to Thursday nights 9pm to 5am the following mornings although for the past few weeks they have had a regular re-opening time of 4.30am. Time to allow the buses through normally takes about 15mins and this seems to be on the hour although I've never been through on the half hour apart from 4.30am so there could be two buses an hour.

Ah I got confused with my north and south

Cool so I can go there on Sunday no problem just getting back is the issue?

Need to be back on Monday so may utilise the Ferry then, cheers
