Celica Gen 7 Opinions?

I have been looking at these for the passed couple of days specifically the 190 GT spec. Just wondered if anyone has 1 of these or has driven one. I am even considering the 140 so experience in either would be a great help.

This an alternative to a Ep3 CTR as insurance for these are ridiculous for my age at the moment.

Handle quite nicely indeed. The 190 engine is a good engine, contrary to what rumour would have it. It really pops in after 6500 rpm. Comfortable, looks 'ok'.

Had my 140 for over a year still enjoy it. Granted it's not very quick in a straight line (marginally slower than my Golf Gti) but it is very entertaining in the twisties and hasn't let me down.

My dad had a 140 for a while as a stop gap.

He really liked it and I drove it a couple of times. They handle well, look good imo and the economy was ok if I remember.

There wasn't much room in to back mind, but the front seats are comfortable and it feels well put togther.

Can't help you ownership wise but my dad doesn't spend cash on cars so it must have looked a good proposition. Never faultered and only went when he decided on his next 4x4.

Economy wise me and a friend went to London on Friday and got 44.2MPG that included taking 2 hours to escape from London in traffic and doing a lot of miles per hour on the motorway.

Looks have defiantly won me over on these. I liked the 190 due to the 140 not been much of a power increase from my current daily. What are 1.8 engines like? Are they gutless till 6000-rpm? Kinda like Vtec which is in the CTR?

I wouldn't say the 140 was gutless at any point in gear. I find the power delivery quite linear. Apparently the lift in the 190 is more noticeable. I have never once thought the 140 was underpowered for normal use but it will not thrill you in a straight line. Why not go and drive one as peoples opinions and expectations vary greatly.
