Where do I stand?

Picked up my new car on Sunday. Later that day I noticed when I got up to 50-60mph there is a rattle behind the dashboard.
Didnt notice this before I purchased the car as the test drive route dosn't allow you to get up to 50+mph.
Can't figure out what it is but it's very annoying.

Phoned the garage to see if they can have a look. They said they will look but this sort of thing isn't covered and if it involves any major work ( like removing the dash ) they wont be doing it.

As the car must have been like this before I picked it up, surely they are responsible for fixing it? Or am I stuck with an annoying rattle every time I go over 50?

I believe it's an approved used warranty but I'd need to double check. Its a Grande Punto.

Obviously if they fix it this is all irrelevant. But I'd like to know where I stand if they say they will do nothing about it.

What type of warranty did you get with it? Was it a full comprehensive one or just a basic 3 months that they have to legally supply with any used car.

I think with Fiat (if it's from a main dealer) that the first year is a manufacturer warrenty and the following two years are a dealer warrenty and the things you can claim on are reduced.

Was this way a few years ago when I had a Stilo (although I never used it as I never had any issues with the car).

If the car is over three years then it's a dealer jobby and they can vary and you will find your warrenty guide quite ambiguous(sp?) giving them wiggle room not to play ball.
