Getting Turbos rebuilt ?

Anybody had any experience in rebuilding turbos ? Got a shagged turbo that needs rebuilding but don't know if I'm up to the job, handy with a spanner but this looks slightly more complicated.

Know of anybody in the Sussex/South East region who do them ?

Its a Garrett T25 BTW.

I've seen some home rebuild jobs on various forums. Best to spend decent money and get a pro job especially when you consider the speed at which a turbo runs. Turbo technics or similar probably offer a mail order service. Maybe look at an upgrade at the same time?

Its not a diy job, they need balancing...

I think we sent the Noble turbos back to Garrett for a rebuild.

O right you may well be correct.

Everyone that owns a Turbo or 5 or a supercharger in the household is on Holiday so I can't ask where they were sent .... just a guess as I seem to remember various phonecalls to Garrett

Midland Turbo have served me very well for a couple of turbo rebuilds.

Its a common turbo, you can prob pick one up for less than a oner second hand

This. Or upgrade to a t28 second hand from a s14 200sx.

But even if I find another T25 they can be different inside can't they and have different A/R ratios,etc ?

These guys in SW London did mine http://www.turbodevelopments.co.uk/ seem to have done a good job, didn't charge the earth and turned it around in a few days.

Not sure, but I thought a T25 is a T25, but I might be wrong.

They are a pretty old tech turbo though. What car is it for?

I use these guys as well, Turbo Developments in Brentford.
They are very good and the prices seem to be better than most.
They are also quick.

Reputable company, all they do is turbo's nothing else.
Have used them for vauxhall VXR's, Cosworths, Fiat Coupe - all were done well no problems.

Its for an MX5, Brodie Britain racing did a turbo conversion in the early days, I've heard its tha same as a Saab unit but even then you have to twist the casings around to fit.

Try SXOC.co.uk for 2nd hand ones. They were also used on the S13 200sx. Also like I said, the T28 from the S14 200sx is same fitment, so it might be a good time to upgrade cheaply and get a bit more grunt

Also, if you are dead set on rebuilt/new replacement, Garret sell a much newer GT25 which has a ball bearing core which spools up faster.

Well I chickened out doing it myself so just sent it off to TurboDevelopments. Sounded like the knew what they were doing over the phone and said they could also upgrade after initial inspection depending on what I want.

Turn around seems good and don't want the car off the road any longer than it has been already !!

Mine was on a MX5 as well but was the Greddy kit TD04.
