Selling a written off car to someone abroad?

Ive got my cat C E39 on Fleabay, one of the bidders wants to export the car for repair abroad.

He says I can just fill out the ‘personal export’ section 11 on the V5, he takes the V5 and off he goes.

If we fill in the ‘normal’ section 10 he said he will have trouble getting the V5 he needs for export as the car is written off.

Am I ok filling in the section 11 even if it says it’s for if I am ‘personally exporting’ the veh?

I don’t want to be accountable for the veh if it’s used in a bank raid abroad?!

I sold my Dad's non running Saab 9000 as 'spares or repair' on Ebay. A Polish guy bought it and tried to get my Dad to do exactly what you describe. My Dad told him 'you are exporting it, not me', and signed the section 10.

yes thats what you do for export just sign it and send it off to dval (does not even ask for new keeper details or country).

make sure you get a signed invoice when it goes to that you can prove it was sold, when and to whom.

So I don't need to worry about the cars future activities being pinned on me?

Shall I ask for a copy of his passport or something?

I would get some proof of ID then print off two sales invoices, both sign both copies other than that its all you can do, dvla export slip asks for no details of new keeper.

O/T but does a Cat C/ D write off loose its total loss status once its been exported abroad?

Thanks for the advice - still concerns me as turns out this guy is abroad and is sending a haulage company to load the car up and take it away.

DVLA said (just as you did) just do the section 11 and don't worry about it but I have no easy way of getting anyone to sign anything or get any id.

I have said I will not release the car until the money is in my bank but it looks like I will have to be content with that and the section 11.

Does that sound OK or should I be worried?

Suppose if the DVLA are happy and I have the money I should be OK?!?
