Maybe it is just me or a just coincidence, and I'm sure present company is excepted, but are all 6-7 year old M3s and slightly older M5s always driven by utter bell ends?
The sort who get the rest of us petrolheads a bad reputation.
Noticed it about six months ago and exceptions to the rule spotted are so rare as to be non existent. So pure stereotyping / profiling I admit.

ETA: Last Friday saw a late model Jaguar X-type 2.0d with what was clearly the Sport badge as seen on Renaultsports. Sales rep type too, what on earth was he thinking?

No 'm-sport' models officially have M badges on the boot; any that do were stuck on by the driver. Only an M3/M5/M6/Z4M/X5M and X6M will have an M badge on the rear of the car. And no current BMW has an M badge on the front grille by the factory. Deerfoot said:

I`ve seen a couple of X-Types with these Sport badges on, one a saloon, one an estate. A coincidence?
Can't imagine Jag would use the same actual badge!

Know what you mean on the M3, its gone from, wehen they were new, Slick Suited, Tag Watched, reeking of Fags and Hugo Boss aftershave sales/city types who talk in "K" when they mean thousand to shaven headed knuckle draggers who alwasy seem to be leant forward in some slightly crippled pose, usually have an earring and drive like a tw4t.
Thats not all M3 drivers, I still fancy one and appreciate there are a lot of enthusiasts and perfectly decent people with them out there.

My Passat complete with 2.0 diesel is a sport model. Thankfully there's no badges on the outside shouting about it, you just get stiffer suspension, nicer seats, different wheels and some git takes the cruise control away.Hopefully the PH sticker on the back makes me look less bellender-ish.
J4CKO, that exactly sums up my feelings about them, but been put off by observing gorillas that precisely match your description of the drivers.
One of the more recent incarnations cut everybody up on jn 3 M5, everywhere in wrong lane, then drove like a prat on a busy M5, undertaking overtaking tailgating and yet simply by adopting line of least resistance could keep up with him. Both left at jn 6, again the prat was in wrong lanes round the roundabout, again he hared off into the distance, both left at the jn near to Hindlip Hall HQ. Last I saw of him he was zapping up the A38 at 80 in a 40, nearly taking two cyclists out, complete shaven headed tool.

I actually find that most people with BMW's with engine capacities greater than 2 litres are pretty good drivers. Its those in 116i's 118i's 118d's 318i's 318d's 320d's who drive like cockends. The 1er's because they are usually young women who think that a BMW is the right car for their image, and the 3er because they are normally company cars.
130i's though... people who drive those are completely above reproach and never make any mistakes ever...
