"Gay/Hairdressers" Car....

There is a long tradition of using the terms "Gay" and "Hairdressers" Car to dismiss certain cars, I personally dont understand why its considered such an insult but in Internet Forum land us Boys do use it as such.
I would be interested to see whether sexuality or talent with Scissors does actually effect ones choice of car, of the Gay people I know or have known, most have had very ordinary cars, like a Saxo, Megane and a Chrysler Neon, no Pink Beetles with Cock motif and a Kenneth Williams Airhorn like some internet forum chaps seem to expect.
Hairdressers, hmm, more difficult, one I remember had a Trans AM Turbo, flamboyant, flash but very masculine.
I quite fancy a TT but get told its a girls/Gay Mans/Hairdressers car and I am a Database Administrator, i.e. in IT so should have some Japanese turbo nutter Scoob or Skyline !
So, Any Gay Pistonheaders out there, any that cut hair, I bet that there are as many Gay Petrolheads with the same enthusiasm for proper cars and same tastes as anyone else, hairdressers I think will have a slightly higher than average incidence of American and or flashy cars and Harley Davidson ownership.

The only hairdressers I know are female and one drove/drives a Clio and now Corsa nd the other a new Beetle and/or Zafira. Hardly fashion statements.

I think when people say "gay" they simply mean the car appears to be feminine. In an age of bloater cars, any small car can appear thus.

My hairdresser (yes, I go to one) currently drives a Golf diesel of some description. She has had in the past a Pug 307, a Ford Focus and a Landy Disco. I asked her why she didn't have something like a MG TF or an MX-5 and she replied that she couldn't get all her stuff into them when going out to do wedding jobs.
My girlfriend (who owns a mk3.5 MX-5) goes to a different hairdresser and he is as gay as christmas. And what does he drive? Audi TT? Micra CC? Nope. A Renault Scenic.
I've heard many people comment on different cars about them being "hairdresser's cars", include a Supra RZ and a DC2 Integra. A lot of the time it's from people who don't know the first thing about cars. I'm perfectly happy to drive anything so long as it's fun to drive and ignore whatever image it portrays to the ignorant masses.

Not sure about specific cars, but when I was picking my 1-series my girlfriend's brother (who is gay), advised me against getting a red one... which I was considering at the time.
TBH it wouldn't have bothered me, but perhaps ironically it was the girlfriend that stopped me by saying being a bright colour would make an ugly car an ugly and ridiculous car
