Limitations on a full size spare??

My dad called me up Sunday to ask if we could swap cars for the next day due to his having the spare on due to a puncture that day. He has a 45 mile commute and was worried about being restricted to 50mph and going over the recommended distance. I work locally so that was fine with me and I could arrange a replacement tyre.

I went to swap cars on Sunday evening and discovered that the spare is not a space saver but a full size spare on a steel rim. Exactly the same size as the other tyres fitted on alloy wheels on the car (It's a MY05 Skoda Fabia VRS by the way!) but the steel wheel had the usual space saver yellow warning stickers regarding limited speed (50mph) and distance (50 miles).

Now my question is why is it limited?!! Anyone?

Sounds very odd. Personally, I'd be happy to drive on it as long as the tyre speed rating isn't stupidly low.

Same as but my Dad would worry that if something did happen he'd be to blame for ignoring the 50 Miles limit!
