Evo subscription

Just had a letter saying they are increasing it to £23.75

which is fine, costs do go up etc.
but the way they have done it isn't good!!

no acknowledgement or concession or detail of what its going from to

and £23.75 is exactly what you pay as a new subscriber.... but new subscribers get 3 free issues and a gift...
as a subscriber for 4-5yrs they could at least do it 50p cheaper or offer a consolation prize

so I'll be phoning to cancel tomorrow

This annoys me a bit as well.
I appreciate they want to entice new people to subscribe, but being a long-term subscriber brings no benefit; a small discount would be a good idea!

Do they tell you when your subscription runs out? I think mine is due to end sometime soon but I can't remember when.

I thought it was last month, seeing as it seemed so late coming in the post that it must have ran out - of course, the day I went to the shop to buy the latest one, I get home and my copy is on the doormat

So can you actually cancel and then re-apply, getting money off at the same time?

Yeah, I got the letter too. I might cancel and re-subscribe or I might just be lazy and continue it. I have subscribed for years though and I'm sure it was ~£19 for 6 months back then and I had no letter to say it was rising to what I'm paying now.

Toilet time wouldn't be as relaxing without EVO though!

I've been subscribed since '03. My subscription got a top up last year when Performance Car folded and they owed me the remainder for that mag!

They'll rely on most people not bothering or noticing, but they can't stop existing subscribers from insisting on as good a deal as new subscribers, or cancelling and then re-subscribing!

Most companies make 80% of their profit in this way, from customer lethargy. If all mobile phone customers took new handsets and got the best deals possible the mobile phone companies would go bust.

Subscriber for +7 years with yet another renewal due in two issues.
It would be nice to get something for the loyalty, a passenger ride in Harrys garage would do the job...

I thunk they are currently throwing an Evo mug into the new subscriber deal at the mo, sounds tempting!

Be interesting to know. If that happened to me, I would just say fine, stick your subscription. Not a good way to reward customer loyalty! Also what's to stop you just giving a different name? Unless they'll say a new subscription to the same property is ineligible for the new subscriber offers.

Phoned and cancelled mine a few weeks ago just because I was no longer reading it and I have to say it was the easiest subscription cancellation I've ever done. Normally they try all sorts to keep you and try to force you to write a letter etc but EVO were very easy to deal with.

A few years ago I had subscriptions that lapsed due to non payment. I re-subscribed a few months later and got the gifts. One was a bucket, sponge and shampoo... One was a swissvax polishing kit.
There may have been more -can't remember now.

They used to start sending me reminders two to three months before the subscription lapsed, and the reminders sometimes had special offers available if I renewed before the offer expired.

The last time my subscription ran out there were no special offers, but it is a coincidence that that's also the time I let my subscription lapse.

Having subscribed since issue 10, I recently binned it.

No interest in loyalty, issues that arrive nearly a week after it appears in the shops - often damaged, etc, etc. What do you get for loyalty? A subscriber's cover.
