Three schoolkids injured in Ferrari head-on

Three children were rushed to hospital after the Ferrari they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a Vauxhall Corsa.

The Ferrari driver was uninjured (v fortunate) and neither was the 17yo driver of the Corsa who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Two of the kids were released but one is still in hospital. Hope he recovers fully.

I think it's a Testarossa convertible, but can't make it out too well so I'm probably very wrong.

That's bad news. Cannot be a TR, they only have two seats, must be a Mondial or similar.

Terrible. Judging by the side vents on the Ferrari in the picture, I think it is a Mondial.

I think there's only one Testarossa convertible so I doubt it's that. It must be a 4 seater too because the kids were in the Ferrari.

It probably wouldn't even have made the local news if it wasn't a Ferrari. Unfortunately these things happen all the time, often with much more serious consequences.

And it appears to be another example of a 17yo driving dangerously.

Hard to say what to do about this sort of situation. I drive like an old biddy nowadays but when I was 17 I was guilty of maybe driving "excitingly".

I recognise the aftermarket wheels it has on and suspect thats because it was discussed on here - that being the case, it might well be a PHer.

I hope the kids are all doing OK.

Unfortunately, another exaple of why 17 y/o's have expensive insurance.

Hopefully 'interesting' enough to keep him off the roads until he is 28 and has kids of his own and realises that the public road network is not his own personal real life play station. (Of course I am making assumptions about blame....)

Straman and Koenig both offered droptop conversions on Testarossas. The Koenig one added fixed quarterlights, similar in shape to those that can be seen in the pic of the crashed Ferrari, Straman did without them and, to my eyes, made the car look more elegant than the original. The Sultan of Brunei also appears to have at least one convertible Testarossa, and the coachbuilder was neither Straman nor Koenig - can't remember who it was.

So there are, or were, a few convertible Testarossas in existence. I don't know how many of these conversions Straman or Koenig sold, if any. The Koenig one, though, was based on the Competition so was a lot wider, had an F40 style wing on the back and scoops all over the place.

The car pictured as involved in the crash, however, is an early or mid Mondial (not a T), which has rear seats and would be far simpler to fit four occupants in than a Testarossa.

Koenig claimed 223mph for the Competition Evolution convertible - 5l V12 twin-turbo....1000bhp.....with the roof off

The hard top was good for 236mph allegedly.....

fking wow, a minor car accident happened somewhere once.

To be fair there does appear to be rather substantial damage to both cars which would suggest this was more than a 10mph 'fender bender'.

Plus the accident is in the rather sleepy Cotsworlds so you only have to look at the majority of the other stories on the site to figure why a crashed Ferrari is interesting to us Yocals.
