Female passengers, Embarassed?

This is aimed at the female PH masses ideally, or OH's.

I was driving through town today and came upon a number of different cars, all of which were just awful, a rusty VW polo was one to name.

One car in particular (being driven by a male) had a female passenger who was quite good looking. As we stopped in traffic I couldn't help but notice she just looked really uncomfortable, I guess the blowing from the exhaust didn't help either.

My question is, as a female passenger, are you really that bothered what car you are being driven in?

speaking on behalf of my OH - yes......but not necessarily in the way you think.

She hates being driven in convertibles (anything too flash) - i'm talking even things like a 430 spider.

She just says she feels like everyone is looking at her etc

She loved my old Griff 500 - but it isn't really that open.

She also really really tries to persuade me out of certain car brands, but likes others. I won't say which as it'll start an internet war of fan boys - but I recently had the choice between 2 different German cars.......I chose a BMW (which I would have anyway ) but she hated the other.....high end brand.

So, green Lambos are out.......black 430 Coupes are in..........you get the idea

My OH is fine with it, but I have a friend who was so embarrassed by the filthy exterior and messy interior she told me to clean it or she'd do it herself.

I called her bluff and she did

Personally I love flash cars, feel like a giggling teenager, like when my boyfriend at school picked me up in his brand new XR2 i I felt like queen st, but it was a small town and I didn't know any better lol. Since then got to drive and be driven in loads of beautiful cars and would much prefer that to some old mini metro, but beggars can't be choosers. Alot of my female friends who are not into cars in the same way couldn't care less what the car is like as long as it gets them from A to B, I imagine PH females are different because we all share a passion for cars.

Really? Seems as if every woman I know has made me promise them a drive when I get mine finished.

With the exception of enthusiasts (like the lady above), any woman who cares about what you drive (as a status symbol) is good for one thing only (and it aint marriage!!)


All those hot parisian/italian ladies are happy to be driven round it sh17boxes.

This. Generally, women don't care less, unless they're into cars..

I once drove a girl on our way to our first date and she kept taking the piss out of my car because she said it sounded like it was dieing...! It was the BOV when I was changing gear she was refering to.

I've had others comment on the (same) car thinking it's like a year old £50k+ car, when in fact it was a £5k 12 year old car....

No, not really. I'd be more embarrassed if it was being driven badly.

I do sometimes pass small shopping cars with fluffy toys in them being driven by women with their OH in the front seat and I occasionally wonder if they wish their OH would just buy a more interesting car.

My OH prefers my Nissan Almera to the Noble I'm looking at tomorrow. Personally I'd fast lose interest in someone that was embarassed to be in my little runaround...

My Mrs falls asleep in any car. Many times I have driven through town in the TVR with the roof down and naughty pipes blaring a V8 soundtrack with the Mrs asleep, complete with open mouth and head at a funny angle.

She's good to me like that, it looks so good.....

My ex-gf was embarrassed to be seen in the Corvette I drove. My wife loved the Z28 and loves the Mustang hence their respective status I suspect.

MsPork isnt really fussed, so long as its presentable and tasteful.

I used to have a red M3 cab which she eventually admiting to really not liking when I got it.....now I've sold it, she often says "I miss the M3, I really like that car".

17-18 fresh drivers license, girls didnt really care cos I had my own car and I could drive. They'd be happy in anything, and that anything was my saxo.

I've had a few girls who have said my current cars a bit uncomfy, but generally they dont really care. If they did, I wouldnt be dating them TBH. I like what I like, if she doesnt like it then she wouldnt be with me!

Had a girl comment on my car saying it "looks like something out of Inbetweeners", I just smiled politely, then commented "Its a shame really, daddy didnt want to buy me a car, and I'd much rather this unique looking car than a 1.4 Golf." soon shut her up!
