Reversing camera's

Thinking of fitting a reversing camera to the van as it will now be used as a daily driver. Question really is have those that have fitted them thought they were useful or just a waste of money?

Depends how big the van is, Sprinter etc or bigger then yes very useful. Can turn my 7.5 tonner around in very tight spaces with ease

I got a kit off ebay for about 80 quid. Included monitor, camera and wiring. The camera mounts on the bumper of my TD5 Disco. It's pretty decent for the money and easy to fit. Mine is wired to the reversing light. The only negative is if there is really bright sun light behind the car when you are reversing, the image isn't the best but still useful. Most times it's fine.

Very useful in the Landie, but there are some conditions (heavy sunlight) where it can be hard to make out the image - but I am using a mirror/monitor that has a highly reflective surface so it's a mirror when the monitor is turned off.

It's all coming back to me now

The camera I got has the cheaper (CMOS) sensor. The dearer sensor is CCD, which from the blurb, might get round the issue of bright light. From memory the cheapest CCD camera is about 70 quid.

I like the set up so much I have toyed with the idea of getting the dearer camara for mine, but really there is no need tbh. the CMOS does the job.
