As I do regularly looking at cars checking insurance, 20 years old 0 ncb (been named driver since passed)

I think insurance has had a mix up

Abarth 500(135bhp) £2600
Clio 200 £3,500
Seat ibiza cupra bocanegra (180bhp) £3,100
seat ibiza cupra (180bhp)£1,200
seat ibiza cupra revo remap (210bhp) £1,300

I've done some research and people are having similar outcomes :S

but shirley this has to be a mistake on the insurance databases?

Internet but such a large difference's must mean something.

plus people on seatcupra.net saying they are paying £1000 less for cupra than bocanegra some were even quoted higher prices for the slower FR version.

:S I must be doing something wrong, for the 1.8T Seat Ibiza Cupra I've been quoted £1,271.39 cheapest... And thats being 21 with 3 years ncb in quite a good postcode aswell... But then again I was using comparison sites.

Out of curiousity who offered you such a low price? My lowest quote was from Admiral for that price.

Admiral offer the odd nutty quote now and again - I remember getting quoted about £500 more for a Corsa VXR than a 1.5 Nissan Almera at one point....

Which just goes to show that it's not all related to power, but perhaps is also connected to how likely the car is to be stolen or how difficult/expensive it is to repair. Many factors determine insurance groups and loadings.

yes - a 1.8 Nissan Primera was considerably more expensive to insure than my 2.0 Laguna when I had it - no idea why because in a reasonable crash the Laguna would almost certainly be written off due to the deployment of 140,000 airbags hehe
