Is it to do with the pay load that will be potentially carried in the pick up bed? 2250 kg being towed plus ???? kg in the pickup?Land Rovers tend to have a generous towing capacity due to the full time four wheel drive.

It could be clutch or cooling related. The ability to do a hill start on a certain gradient fully loaded. The ability to climb a certain gradient fully loaded in 40 degree ambient temperature etc. There will be a technical reason for it.It's going to be used mainly as a van and I've decided that size is a problem.

But I was thinking of getting rid of my car and using this instead but I don't think a side facing rear seat is OK for a 3 week old baby to travel in.
So, I'm back to plan A - keep my car (which I'd lose loads of money on as I bought it new last year) and have he van solely for business use.

Had L200 in West Africa great vehicle, got access Hilux in Borneo it is crap wet weather handling is awfull to the point of being dangerous,and I try to avoid going in it as either a passenger or a driver. As you may guess both are used as proper off road use not a green lane tractors, driven the Nissan on road loved it, and what I would have with my money.

How old of a pickup were you looking at?. I can't recall any extra cab (not the 4 door version) having side facing seats in the past 15+ years.
I too would like a pickup, but find the bed length of the 4 door models too short for my needs and the inbetween models i.e Space, King, Super etc (different manufacturers call it different things) are very thin on the ground. I can find them either nearly new and out of my budget or within budget but hammered to within an inch of their life, and none seem to have the sort of spec I would be happy with.

My dad has had a D40 Navara from new in 06 with no engine problems. It's just now approaching 100k. Hasn't got stuck at all with 3 ft snow, steep muddy fields etc. Even better now on BF Goodrich A/T's.
The only issue was the Sat Nav screen thing wouldn't work after countless trips back to the dealer, until they eventually replaced the whole unit.
It is (was?) the most powerful by quite some way. The L200 is supposed to be the most car like I hear.
