What should I do with my1999 XJR?

Slightly long story but here goes! Bought a dark metallic blue XJR as a daily driver last September, as my 3.2 sport wasn't quite hitting the spot! Found one that ran well, had recently had the auto box rebuilt and paid a bit over £3k for it. All was well until a few weeks later when the head gasket went. I spent over £2500 at Scole Engineering having both banks done and the timing chains,water pump etc replaced while I was at it, as I wanted it dead right.
I then decided I would buy a TVR as a second car, but wifey protested about lack of space etc, so I compromised and bought a 4 door TVR, otherwise known as a VXR8!
Thought to myself, I must get round to selling the Jag (same space issue!), but thought it seemed silly to get rid of such a lot of car which owes me about £6k since last september, for peanuts. I supposed I hoped she wouldn't notice
Unfortunately, what is even more silly, is leaving it not getting used. So I want to bite the bullet, cut my losses and sell. She is tidy, but not mint, 11 years old remember. I hate trying to describe older cars, and would much rather under promise and over deliver. Nice interior, although the front seats ar looking a bit cracked. A few months back, the remote stopped working for the central locking, but it works fine on the key. I'm told it needs a new conrol unit.
The air cond is ice cold, the power is staggering (as we all know), but what is it worth? MOT until November by the way.
The car would not suit an absolute conniseur, but if someone wanted a cheap and presentable rocketship, they could do a lot worse! Is the the sort of thing that would move in the classifieds, or is it an ebay proposition?

Seems you paid £3k for a motor, that then went titsup and you fixed the £3k motor so it worked again.
Therefore its still worth £3k, but has some selling points to encourage buyer interest.
Shame your not in Hampshire, as a chap at work seems to want a V8 barge as a low mileage toy.
By the way, what did they offer you on the trade in? £1k?

I bought the VXR8 privately so didn't have the opportunity of finding out. I was told it was worth £1k as a non runner when the head gasket had gone. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it looks like that would have been the best route out. When I got it fixed, I intended to run it for a year or two to get some motoring out of it, but then the desire for something else kicked in and logic went out of the window!Therefore its still worth £3k, but has some selling points to encourage buyer interest.

I sold my '98 XJR last year. It was in very good condition, less then 100k miles, FJSH etc, a few slight blemishes on the body work (less then you would expect for the age), all electrics/ air-con etc working. Tensioners had been done. It needed a service and 2 tyres. I sold it for £3.5k (what I paid for it) but did only have the one guy phone after about 2 weeks.
From what you have said, it's probably worth between £2.5 and £3k. Unfortunately the fact that you have spent loads on the engine doesn't mean much I'm afraid.
