Conflicting HPi information?

I went to look at a 51-plate BMW 3 series convertible yesterday, all seemed alright with it.

Did a MyTextCheck on it and the car came back as "recovered, loss date 07/09/2004."

I then did a full HPi check on the car and there's no such warning on it. The only alerts on the HPi are outstanding finance on previous plates, which if I'm reading correctly just means that the previous owners have transferred their private plates to other cars that they have purchased through finance.

Is the discrepancy above anything to be concerned about? I'm inclined to trust HPi more than the MyTextCheck service simply due to the cost of it and the detail on the report.

You could call HPI when they're open again, ask about what it means with the finance on old VRMs and also about using a text service that came back with a query.

HPI give compensation up to a certain amount if the car isn't what they say it is, but to save that, ask now.
