Details: C63 AMG Black Series

Info hits the web on forthcoming super-hot Mercedes C-class coupe

The wraps may only have just come off the C63 AMG coupe, but already details are emerging of an even hotter Black Series version.

According to Mercedes specialist website BenzInsider.com, the new car will get a 507bhp version of the naturally aspirated 6.2-litre Mercedes V8 (up from 451bhp in the 'regular' car and the same power as the CLK63 AMG Black Series from 2007).

There will also apparently be a custom bodykit, making the car wider and lower, and no rear seats (although they can be added in as an optional extra). Other choices will include an optional rear spoiler and a range of five body colours.

BenzInsider also suggests that just a few hundred of the Black Series C63s will be made, but doesn't venture any information on the price...

Porsche wanted to charge me* over 200 quid for a rear wiper on a Panamera Turbo S, listing at over 100 grand!

Hopefully the styling changes will liven up the design a bit. The standard coupe is a fairly poor effort aesthetically speaking. I actually prefer the look of the C class sedan or even wagon over the coupe, when it should be the other way around.

Might be able to afford one in 2022 but we won't be able to drive cars have any
fun eat meat drink or do anything then - still I'll be 62 yrs then so will probably be looking forward to my bus pass in 2030 (retirement age 70+)

Using 6.2 because the car is based on current gen c class which wasn't designed for the 5.5... All new products will use 5.5 from now on....

Hopefully it will be a no-cost option, like Porsche has done with the 911 GTS.


This car may well be a future purchase for me if it's any good, I have been looking longingly at the CLK 'Blacks' but they are not far off £100k as they made very few RHD cars (less than 20 iirc).

Hopefully Mercedes will make a few more of these as per the article and they'll follow the depreciation pattern of the rest of the AMGs.

I don't need to see what it looks like to know I want one! The CLK-63 AMG Black Series is still one of my all-time favourite Mercs (along with the CLK-GTR and SLR).

I hope the new one still has massive arches like a DTM car!
