Hi guys I've run into a bit of a dilemma and could do with some of your opinions to help me out!!
I recently test drove a B7 RS4 and fell in love immediately
, however my friend has just thrown a spanner in the works by recommending a VXR8. With the budget I was planning to spend on the RS4 I could get a few yours younger VXR8 with about 1/3 of the mileage and still have a few grand left in my pocket for mods 
my question is does anyone who has driven both think the RS4 is worth the extra cost? My friend has the Bathurst so can't really compare with his.
P.s this is for a weekend car but also needs to fit the family in sometimes, hence the saloons.

Oddly, I passengered in newish models of both in the rain at the ring last year, one after the other.
Performance felt the same. Oddly I would say the rs4 had a bit more impressive low down but it took an age to rev out and didn't get any more exciting at the top end. The vxr8 (a late model 6.0 in this case) was a bit more old fashioned in it's power band and possibly better for it. Rs4 understeered disappointingly quickly and didn't seem to have many options when it did. VXR oversteered appreciably scarily (although not as easy as you might imagine, and the electronics always handled it). But this was only a lap I each and a bit of passengering out on the roads nearby.
I never tried driving either but I would imagine a decision would come down to the rest of their qualities - looks, badge, if rwd suits you, interior, costs and so on.

I know this may sound boring but i'd look closely at the retained values for both. I know the RS4 lost quite a bit but i think it would hold alot more money than the Vauxhall TBH.
Regardless of that i'd still go for the RS4 for the real world driving, although if you visit tracks the VX would be more fun.
