Shocked by non-PH saying PH things

Well a while ago I pulled up alongside a Civic Type-R with my Gf in the passenger seat. I said there pretty fast them admiring the car to find she said yeah there 0-60 in 6.7. She knows nothing about cars but decided to quote the 0-60 time of a Civic type-R. I was in shocked. Apparently she'd heard me ranting on about them a month or so before and I had managed to drill the info into her

Would have been more 'PH' of her to correct your use of 'there' when you meant 'they're'

My 71 year old grandad-in-law came round for a BBQ on Friday. He's old, not really 'with it', but a lovely bloke.
I showed him my garage (we only moved in 2 months ago) and he immediately said 'Oh, I see you've got a Pistonheads logo!'.
What.
Well done on posting that heæs not with it, when you know he reads/ knows about PH, I showed him my garage (we only moved in 2 months ago) and he immediately said 'Oh, I see you've got a Pistonheads logo!'.
What.

My girlfriend is a bit of a strange one, she's not into cars in some ways, but is in others. She recognised that the garage had put a tyre on the wrong way round the day they did it, she surprised me by recognising a Corvette when it was behind us, and likes the roof off on the MX-5. Yet she doesn't like it being impractical and thinks I'm a bit stupid to have bought it when we have snow for around 6 months of the year.
I was in a pub once with my wife, who has virtually no interest in motoring at all, and there was some football on the big telly. We weren't really watching it, but the camera cut to some people in the grandstand. I thought nothing of it until my wife said "Oh look, it's Valentino Rossi". I nearly fell off my chair.
Brave effort from my mrs at the weekend - we were out driving round the lochs to my father in law's, some of which are the best driving roads in the country (Loch Eck). Passed a mustang out for a hoon coming the other way. Mrs says "Ooo, nice Ferrari!". I correct her and say it's a Mustang. She explains that she saw the prancing horse on the grill and thought that would make it a ferrari, even though it didn't look like one.
Nearly impressive.

Chatting to my new neighbour who's in his late 60's, mentioned I was thinking about buying an early MX-5 for the summer.
Good choice, do you read Pistonheads? They're highly regarded on there...
Made me smile

Yep, I get this occasionally. The general population are pretty predictable depending on what Top Gear TV has said or what a brand's reputation was in the 80s, but my mum - despite knowing little about cars - manages to have some sort of PH instinct. Reckoned, on testing both, that a FWD Audi TT was too dull to drive but that a straight-six Z3 was brilliant and sounded perfect. Thinks all TVRs are absolutely fantastic machines and always loves the noise. Thinks Maseratis and Alfas are gorgeous.. I can live with this

Sadly, no such light from the missus yet
