Important for VW owners ....

... Not sure which models this effects but VW are offering to change the 'coil packs' for some cars. Best call up VW if this effects you, (you will need the VIN number).
My car is eligible... yipee.. not every day that you get something for free from VW (normall £40 each I think)

OP = How old is your car?
The reason for asking is because in 2002, I bought a six month old Golf.
Sometime thereafter, the engine management light came on and the car reverted to 'limp-mode' where it was just driveable in order to protect the engine. As it was still under warranty, I managed to get it to the dealers who diagnosed a faulty coil pack.
Upon further investigation by myself, it appeared this was a growing problem across the VAG group.
So much so that VW USA issued a vehicle recall. However, VW UK didn't and would only replace the faulty coil pack and not all four of them.
They would only replace all four coil packs if you had the same issue a second time.
Anyway, I would be stunned to hear if you are having this issue on a recent vehicle as it would show how inept VW really are.
