Stuck injector?

Has anyone had a stuck injector before and if so what are the symptoms and possible cure? The diesel saab I have as my main drive is smoking on a cold start for a few seconds and running rough. The fuel consumption is also a little high and it is now causing problems when warm too. Have tried a few bottles of injector cleaner but to no avail. Any ideas?

Could be glow-plug(s). Even with direct injection, the glow plugs are still energised for a period when cold.

Could also be poor compression in one or more pots.

I'd do an injector leak back test, see what comes back. I've a feeling that'll show discrepancy which can lead to the symptoms you describe.

Reconditioned injectors aren't that expensive, and it makes a phenomenal difference to that way a modern derv can drive. I know a good company who reconditions, but not sure if it's ok to post up on the forums (advertising?) although they are no connection to me.

Yes I thought that first and had them all changed but still no luck.

Peter,

Had exactly the same thing on a TD4 Freelander, the problem is the injector doesn't quite close correctly and the fuel drips out after your shut it off.......replaced one injector and it was fine.......sounds pretty similar.
