selling a car but new owner might not want private plate?

in process of selling my tiv and it has a basic tvr plate worth about £400 just wondering what is the best way to deal with it if i do end up keeping the plate, dont want to put on retention in case it goes with the car.

thing is will the new buyer have to wait a couple of weeks for the paperwork or do i have to trust them to do it on my behalf?

I'm confused. If I'm reading it correctly you don't want to keep it so why's it a problem? Sell it with the car. If the new owner doesn't want it he can deal with it.

Probably not going to fly... I know if I were buying a car I certainly wouldn't let the vendor bump up the price by what the plate is supposedly worth (after all, the value of the plate is only realisable IF it actually sells and I'd, perhaps unfairly, suspect the vendor was being optimistic about the value). Suspect I'm not alone.

its a nice enough plate but not a deal breaker but would def keep it if buyer does not want it rather than just give it away as would hope to put it on another tvr.
