Monaro. Lower end price bracket.......

Give me the pro's and con's please.

I know the older ones have bigger boots which is a bonus, but are they troublesome and/or expensive to keep?

I'm of a wont for a V8 coupe in my life. I've considered BMW 8' series, (Toyota Soarers and Merc 450's too), and while they're nice they just don't stir my loins as much as a Monaro.

I think I'm after something a bit on the 'raw' side.

It'd be to replace my 300ZX Twin Turbo to give you a frame of reference.

Worth looking at 4th Gen Camaros (and Trans Am's). Same engine/transmission but a bit lighter and more striking looking.

I'd be very surprised if they are. LS engine and GM driveline should be ultra-reliable.

The boot can swallow loads, the only things that are expensive are items like discs and body panels.

Servicing is cheap.

The noise is incredible, the performance is very fun and its a nice place to sit.

Just give them the usual check overs, but as you say, the engine will go on and on.

Does this mean there are some parts that can go back on the flamer?

I hadn't until yesterday when I had a good ole thunk about it all. I've lost my mojo well and truly in that direction. I had great intentions but to be honest, having tasted 'the dark side', I'm not so inclined to spend any more time on the 'project(s)' I have.

It's all here mate, and much-much more. I also have three other engines, (1x12v carb in the car, 1x 12v Inj, 1 x 24v and the engine that came with the 'Flamer' with the 'fancy head'), the 'hardtop' shell I got from 'CS', (if you know who I mean.), which could really use your attentions. I'd need to 'brace' the front end to get it back on the floor as it's been in the air for ages. (I'm keeping the BMW alloys you sent me though!!)

Get in touch if you want it. It's yours to take. I can't think on a more worthy benefactor. (The logistics and manpower are up to you, although I'll endeavour to smooth the process from this end.)

I can do the getting it on the ground and steering 'thing', but there'll be a shed load of gruntwork involved in removing it and the other shell from their current resting places. I have a shed load of stuff including what's 'in' the other car, (which you won't be interested in as it's a tea bag but needs gone.)

As I remember, the 5.7 have the big boots, the 6.0 have the same boot but have the petrol tank (or spare wheel?) taking up space, hence smaller.

Later 5.7 also has small boot.

Only the 2004 cars have the big boot. That's year of manufacture, not registration.
