SORN for a few days?

I've just received the V5 for a car I've bought. I'm going to tax it towards the end of next week once it has an MOT, so trying to decide whether to bother declaring SORN. It's currently sitting in my garage.

I can declare SORN easily enough on line, but I know what fecktards DVLA are, so am concerened that it will then create some kind of processing problem next week (i.e. because they'll be processing SORN and then processing tax at the same time).

Once the tax has expired you have 14 days to tax or SORN a vehicle, but obviously it cannot be used/parked on the road during this time (except to get a MOT at a pre booked time).

The tax expired a year ago, and the previous owner had it SORN'd. However, his SORN automatically cancelled when DVLA issued me with my V5.

My brother in law SORNed his car by mistake and couldn't tax it for a month.

I would re SORN just to be on the safe side.

Hmm, the story above makes me nervous....I don't want to have the car untaxable!
