Well, I suppose I may as well start the thread - Renault Twizy, what do people think?

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-video/renault-twizy-e...

I think it may represent a fun baby-step towards electric vehicles. Certainly all the journos seem to have a bit of a grin during the test drives and it neatly sidesteps lots of electric questions like 'what happens when you turn the heater/AC on etc. etc.?' Having commuted on foot or by bike for the last couple of years the Twizy's weather protection looks like pure luxury and a decent coat and gloves should see you right throughout the year.

If it really comes in at £7000 with a £40 a month battery lease I may be seriously tempted.

Oh yes, it is RWD too, so some people will HAVE to like it - maybe a tuning parts aftermarket will spring up?

I initially thought this looked like fun urban transport, but I think it is massively overpriced for what it is, especially given Renault will also sell you a Dacia Logan for the same price, and that is an actual car.

It's *interesting* which is commendable in itself. I'd be more impressed if they put the same components in an open "side by side" roadster.

I know what you mean, though I can see why they went for the tandem layout for urban use - high driving position and lack of width. I guess that easy access from either side would be handy in town too.

Maybe the powertrain and some other components could be transplanted in to something a bit more sporting? Either something like a sporting trials car or something small and aero like a mini Lotus 23?

Would appear to have the same "makes you look like a tw@t" 'feature' that killed the Sinclair C5.

This is cool though, no doubt be popular with the London lot who will look to avoid the congestion charge with it.

Give it a top speed of 75mph and some doors and i'll buy one.

I do't need my daily commuter wagon to weigh 2 tons, announce to everyone i hugely rich, do a thousand miles a day, do 150mph.

I need it to get me to work while listening to radio 4 without getting me wet.

If you normally use a go kart to commute it might be a worthwhile alternative.

I do, so I'd echo the post above re: top speed and doors.

450kg 2 seater whats not to like

But most folk would prefer a 1700Kg 4 seater covered in bling to take them to work

Apparently the new golf comes with a little machine in the back window that rips up tenners to prove how rich you are

I think it's brilliant. Seriously tempted by one of these. A proper attempt at a compact two seat urban car. At just 1.2 m wide it's pretty slight. Of course you are paying for the tech but the Renault makes the Gwiz look even more of a poorly designed, poorly executed shed...

To put the price in perspective, the Twizy cost the same here in Switzerland as a Segway...
