Sometimes having children is great. My 2 year old is obsessed with tractors at the moment. So rather than watching another bloody episode of in the night garden we decided to see if there were any tractor videos on You-Tube.

I don't think I've ever seen such a fantastic collection of engines - just when you think they can't get any bigger or more outrageous someone tops it.

Yes, but what the hell is 8:05? Looks like a radial but with banks of cylinders rather than just one.

I spotted the one wit h4 gas turbines, also the one at 3min did look like a radial aero engine!

And finally - check out 8:00 - Look at the throttle body! Its about a foot in diameter!

My brother and I use to watch tractor pulling on TV when we were about 7 and 9 (23 and 25 now) maybe slightly older. it used to be on every week and we used to make models of them from Lego.

You, sir, may regret that. My 2 yo is the same and I think I've seen tractors on youtube morning and evening every day for about 3 months now.

Gets frustrating when the demands escalate (e.g wants to see an orange tractor stuck in mud) - especially given that many who upload tractor "videos" to YT don't seem to recognise that "video" implies movement(and Euro electronica is not obligatory).

I've already had to sit sat through a "slide-slow" video to some god awful techno. Fortunately the first moving video was the above pulling video which made up for it.

He's now asleep cuddling a Massey 9240 and an Agrotron something or other.

I may have trumped that today. Saw this human powered hovercraft at an open day at the Hovercraft Museum in Lee on the Solent. Ignore the engine noise in the background: this is powered by human being alone. To see the skirt inflate and raise off the ground was absolutely incredible.

I fear that one of my vehicles may need to be sent off to a remote storage facility in order to free up space in the garage to construct one of these. Sod electric cars: I've seen the future of eco-travel.

From experience, avoid anything that sounds eastern european - almost certainly stills and/or techno. Instead "event" footage will save you time.

After that, it's usually a slippery slope through Fendt Trisix (f*ing enormous, six wheels) and tracked efforts before risking a foray into the world of excavators.... but be warned, he will almost certainly clock the diversion pretty quickly - at which point it'll be back to tractors.

Just googled that engine and it does look like one, but it was rated at 470bhp - the one in the vid must be nearly an order of magnitude more powerful. Very impressive given the origins of the motor.
