If you're sporting a Polo pony rampant on your underpants, you'll be interested to see where the fruits of your er, largesse, are being spent.

And now you can.

Avid car collector Ralph Lauren has decided to share his car collection with European enthusiasts for the first time, and so 17 of his favourite machines have been moved to Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris for a special exhibition called "The Art of the Automobile: Masterpieces from the Ralph Lauren Collection".

There's a bit of background from the man himself and some lovely close-ups in the video released to promote the event which runs until August 28th.

Meanwhile we're left to wonder whether there's a market for PH 'Smiley' underduds...

Great cars but what a waste if they never get used.

He should talk to the likes of Nick Mason, Chris Evans, the guy on PH with the F1 GTR (sorry - i cant remember his name) Mr Flemke etc etc who all own stunning cars yet who ALL use them as god intended.

We here on PH should be grateful to Mr Flemke et al who not only share their cars with us - thank you all - but who obvously enjoy the cars when they do get them out of the garage.

Can you honestly imagine Nick Mason & Chris Evans treating their wonderful cars like Mr Laurens? No you cannot & for that we should be truly grateful..

Saying that i reckon a trip to Paris has got to be worth it hasnt it?

The number of stories people tell of seeing him out and about in his cars suggests they do see some use...

Not just as the plethora of shows he appears at but people have pictured him in roadside cafes in Bugattis and allsorts...

Ofc there's a limited number of places you can take cars worth that sort of cash...

p.s. The McF1 is really out-of-place in that collection, it's a technical marvel of it's time but it's hardly pretty.

I suspect he includes it because he spent a fortune getting one US-road-legal (and not that one)!?

The Mclaren F1 wouldn't fit in the top 1000 most gorgeous cars of all time.

Car hasn't aged very well at all IMO.

Couldn't agree more, I don't even like the thing, It leaves me cold, in fact I probably wouldn't give it a second glance in that collection.

I think its aged incredibly well - its still a good, clean, elegant design that imho still looks as good now as the first time I saw them in Autocar.

how do you know he doesn't?

Someone who can afford to pay for a collection of cars like these, can afford to have someone polish/wax it every time the garage door is opened and the wind hits it!

Did you see that video on 5th gear about the valeting guy? I'd post a link, but quite frankly I can't be arsed!
