Petrol in a Diesel - Help

Hi Guys

A friend mistakingly put 4 litres of petrol in her 1999 VW Lupo 1.7 SDI. The car was then driven half a mile and seemed to be running fine.

Given the old school nature of the engine, will it be sufficient to simply brim it with diesel (perhaps with some sort of additive) or should she get the fuel
system flush?

Personally if it were my car I would brim it with diesel and see what happens if it really was only 4 litres that went in then a brim should dilute it hopefully.

Yes, it should be absolutely fine. Quite common practice in Alaska to put a few litres of petrol in a diesel car in winter.

I would siphon out whatever is in the tank just now then stick some diesel in.

I put petrol in my diesel tdi to thin the fuel, no worries about this.

Brim it with diesel anything less than 5 liters shoud be fine

Just fill it with diesel. It will be fine.

Brim with diesel. The SDi doesn't have a delicate modern common rail engine.
