Short trip European breakdown cover

Can anyone recommend any companys to go for?

It's only for 3 days but I would like to be covered to recover the car back to the UK if it breaks down in a bad way. My car has been 100% reliable and never let me down, but I don't want to risk it when I'm far from home!

I think I just called the AA or RAC the first time I went to Le Mans in my MGB. Was about £50 for 4 days (a few years back)
My classic car insurance policy now includes breakdown cover that includes a couple of weeks European cover. Might be worth considering come renewal time.

I got 2 weeks european cover with Direct Line Rescue 3 years back. Cost around £70. Thankfully didn't have to use it but glad I took it out all the same.

I've always used AA European Breakdown cover. Very good value and not silly expensive.

You only need to do about 5-8 days away before it gets sensible to buy annualy too (at least that was the case a few years ago).

But highly recommended AA.

If I've got "UK & European Assitance" does that mean I'd be covered for European cover too?

"Assistance" sounds very much like they'll tow your car to a local garage, not bring it home. The AA 5 star cover, which is relatively cheap, brings your car home which is very important (in my mind)

europe-wide cover (UK too obviously) for a year is about 90euro with ADAC, covers any car you are in
partner plus covers your missus too

My Adrian Flux breakdown cover is Europe wide for £57 a year. They do take you to a local garage, but I don't have a problem with that. Last year my mates 550bhp GTO ate its gearbox in Belgium (probably to relieve the tedium) and they recovered that to the UK for him after a couple of phone calls and a local roadside repair man confirming that it wasn't easily reliable.

Unless your car is particularly specialist I think that's good value.

Thats what I've just taken out aswell, the £57 European Assistance thing.. Good value I think..

I think ill go for the AA Full cover as suggest, as they will get your car home, rather than just roadside assistance.

Adrian Flux do breakdown cover without you having to have insurance with us now. Its £60 for 12 months. Its full UK and EU cover. Roadside recovery and relay. They will take you home or to your destination or fix you on the side of the road. I know you only need it for 3 days but if other people are saying £50-£70 for a few days then £60 for the year might be worth it. You can PM me if you are interested in this.

I used AA European Breakdown cover when going to spain on the Bike, snapped the chain and called the AA for help as it was 22.00, they sent a Van, from the UK................. 15hrs later, it was a joke and no idea why I took the cover out.

The Eurotunnel cover is good and you DON'T have to travel on Eurotunnel to buy it.

It's provided by one of the usual big companies and quite a bit cheaper than buying direct.

For the amounts being quoted on here, would just take an annual policy with ADAC for the year for 80 euros.

Full recovery back to UK from europe, nurburgring cover e.t.c e.t.c

If you're going via Ferry then check with the Ferry operator. I was all about to book cover with the AA when Sea France offered the same cover for £25 when booking the Ferry! That included repatriation of the car if required.
