surprised you even paid and took it for an MOT.

Was it not fairly obvious it was rotting away and lights were not working?

The rear foglamps break all the time because they're in a terrible position. Few electrical niggles they sound sortable, few suspension bits no big deal. It's only really the welding, and possibly the rotten subframe, that makes that a list of horrors.

The driver's side window is an interesting advisory - mine passed several MOTs with a jammed shut window and it was never mentioned.

I had an Audi A3 which had a 2 page fail sheet so I know how you feel. However how did you not realise that it is crumbling away around you?!

What's the £400 refer to? You can't get that lot fixed for £400 can you?

What age is your Mini?

My 26 year old Scirocco walked its MOT today with one advisory regarding a CV boot.

I've owned it 12 years and it's only failed once on a cracked spring.

It's the way they build them! The welding will be expensive if you can't do it yourself but the other items are straightforward enough.

If you remained silent on the MOT issues you would probably still get a grand for it on fleabay biggrin

Can you post up what was advised at the last MOT from the online history check ?

Looking at that list I'd say its gone through at least 2 MOT's with the tester not wearing his glasses...

To be fair, if it was iffy for a pass, it'd probably have been as worth the while just sticking it through to see what all was needing sorted, rather than doing obvious stuff, then getting hit with a bunch of things you don't expect.

3 pages thats nothing we had a transit in last year that had 5 pages and 49 faults with another 1 page of advisery. The van went straight to the srap yard after the mot.

Yes I knew it had some issues, I know a couple of welders so thats not an issue, as for the rest it looks simple enough. Alot of it is niggly things, and some of that sheet takes 3 or 4 points to say a sill or a sub frame is shagged. I will updade in 2 weeks, I am taking bets on how many fails/ advisories it will have at that point biggrin

edo- great read biggrin

doogz- Yes, I think so, I knew it needed some love and thats what I hope to give.

magpie- I just took it to see if there was anything terminal before I started work.

fastra- I could get another but a decent one is well over 1k, so I will concentrate on this one.

HH- Yer, I think the sheet makes it look worse than it is.

Willber- Im not sure how a modern car can rack up that many faults, but congratulations biggrin

Ari- That is the price for the parts, I intend to do most of the replacing myself.

MJK- Its a 1991 Rover.

Jimmyarm- I dont have any history whatsoever, unfortunately. Can you check online?

Boba Fet- Nope, its an original.

Bus pass- Nope, I know it needs to be done at some point, might as well be now.

Ian- My thoughts exactly.

Dontlift- I cant sell her smile
