Lost for words at this.... Presumed the car had been the victim of a Police 'TPAC' remover, but no - no sign of obvious damage or Police intervention. Seen VAG people do some weird sh*t previously, but didn't realise they'd started giving driving licences away to the mentally incapacitated:

I still fail to grasp why more people don't reverse park. You can judge where you are in the space easier using your mirrors, and it's far easier to spot passing traffic or pedestrians when driving out.
It’s ignorance and ego. You’re happy to admit you’re not as confident reversing out, so you reverse in and you feel it’s safer for you. If everyone like you who struggles with parking was happy to admit it and realise it’s not a reflection on their manhood the world would be a better place. Big respect to you, screw it, I’m no good at parallel parking.

Who’s with me and beny admitting they are not driving gods?
For me, I think it's the judging where the bumper corner is on the passenger side when driving in - I've not hit anything when doing this, but I just like to see where I'm heading is clear with enough space - hence reversing, mirrors, etc. Easier to get it in straight too, rather than farting on back and forth.

Yeah either that place or the one on Kings Road with mirrored film over the windows, both prime candidates for a knocking shop.

So of the car park is busy you would rather leave your trolley by the bonnet and carry your bags between your car and the next, hoping that someone else hasn’t parked close to your bumper, all while feeling smug about your driving skills?

It's not that at all. Reversing into a space is reversing into an inactive/empty area; reversing out is reversing into an active space (other cars), hence more risk. Particularly when others are doing the same.

Audi dealership next to a Mercedes dealership with a big AMG sign on it... Bet the entire postcode stinks of Paco Rabanne and the anxious sweat of estate agents worrying if their next commission will come in soon enough to pay the lease they've just signed on their new black on black on black on black on black machine.

Wetherby services this morning in the "Coach and Caravan Only" parking area. Even with a full coach length space used they managed to overshoot and park on the pavement.

It's not even near the entrance.

If you e driven into a space such that you leave the trolley in front of your car how would someone be parked close to your rear bumper.

I've nicked the first car park picture from scrolling upwards, this demonstrates it...

Imagine if the Audi (and other cars on its row) had reversed in. The other row abuts it so you would be parking arse to arse.

Spaces are generally 4.8m, modern largish cars are generally about that and plenty are 5+m, so you can't really bank on a buffer zone between rows.

I did something similar the other day.

In my defence though the car broke down and I managed to coast it out of the way of the road and in between two driveways. I fully expected a ‘you can’t park there mate’ comment.

Last week, a wander around Virginia Water Lake with friends to see the famous totem pole before it's taken down forever, and to look at the rapidly developing 'Punchbowl'. This week or next will probably have it in all its glory.
When I got back to the car park (scene of a PH meet many years ago where I first became aware of this site and the owner of an F360 took me for a spin) I found that despite there being hundreds of free spaces, a couple had decided to have a snooze and had parked in one of the main routes leading to the exit, reducing the width of the alley and blocking the motorcycle parking bay. Yes, there was still plenty of space to get by but WHY?!

Fentanyl.

Where did he say he wasn't confident reversing out? He said it was easier to see pedestrians or passing traffic, which it is. Nothing to do with confidence, more to do with visibilty.

Sure, parking nose-in at supermarkets can be beneficial for boot access, but that convenience of loading has a drawback when it comes to manoeuvring out of the space later. For some, they place higher importance on visibility of others than they do for their own convenience of accessing their boot.
