A £65,000 electric appliance is not a hot hatch. It's a serious performance car. It's also unaffordable for a good percentage of people unless it's your company car. A hot hatch should be the attainable giant killer. I feel like so many of those epic cars now are heading for finacially unobtainable territory. I've been lucky enough to own a few hot Clios and Imprezas, a Mk1 MX5 and a string of 6 cyl BMWs, but as I sit here at 42 years old, I don't think I could justify buying any of them back now.

Yeah I have a 280 Cup and it looks the same. I had the Clio 220 (1.6 variant of the engine) and that looks similar too.Shame as the old 2.0 cars looked a bit better and had removable cover at least.
Aside from the engine bay it's probably the most 'complete' RS I've had. They usually have some odd design choices and quirks but the 280 is pretty much spot on. Only realised the other day that I've had mine 6 years now!
That said, the 250 Cup was still my fav.
Very cool cars these and sad to think we'll never see another like it again. Feels that for my generation (42 this week) that the golden era of the hot hatch was 2000-2020 really.
Love these, hugely expensive but a cool thing for being quite out there and typically French.
No, the early Megane RS 225s, I would assume into the Phase II models looked more like this, although the battery cover isn't original. Yes it's mostly plastic but at least they made an effort to make it tidy.

Agree, Hyundai N cars are playful and characterful like Renaultsport cars wereOn the RS300 Trophy-R - Evo championed all of the Renault RS cars, but when they tested the RS300 on the road they stated the damping was just way, way too stiff.

Only issue is its really hard to see how much coolant you have burned through. The Megane 3 and 4 had less dressing, all R models have always had all aesthetic covers removed. My R26, still a bunch of breaky plastic crap like any other modern car, and the upside is they have made no attempt to hide or re route it so when a check light does come on its obvious what has come loose.

To be fair I don't do much driving in my 225 so hadn't really thought about coolant but it's a fair point. The 172 was definitely better looking even without the covers, I'd even go so far as to say the Twingo 133 was too haha.
