£117,100 and it is listed as 0-60 in 3.4 seconds?
Who is going to buy this when you get a Model 3 Performance for £60k that does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds?
Because any idiot can whack loads of power through an electric motor to spin wheels really fast. 0-60 is probably the least interesting thing on a performance car. I've had a car with sub 4s 0-60 and the novelty wears off quite quickly. How it feels to drive is much more important. There's no point in doing 60 in 3 seconds if it leaves absolutely no emotional impression at allWho is going to buy this when you get a Model 3 Performance for £60k that does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds?

Having said that the M4 is an impressive piece of engineering.

What about the joy, bliss and pure delight of winning the traffic light grand prix, each and every time?Isn't it lovely to see the emotional impression on the ICE driver's face as you leave them behind?

Understand that, but where does it end? And I’m not sure beating other drivers, who may be PH’ders, by only putting your potentiometer fully on is a route to lasting satisfaction. I’d imagine it’s like doing a line, great at the time but perhaps a little empty until the next one. There’s no skill or learning involved, no sense of accomplishment other than demonstrating the size of your outlay (which may or may not be linked to your income).Isn't it lovely to see the emotional impression on the ICE driver's face as you leave them behind?

You do realise this is PistonHeads and not Mumsnet don't you?
You did make me laugh/smile with the eyesight bit though thanks!
It’s rare I disagree with your posts Lee, but Evo reckons new cars will all have a speed limiter 2 months from now. Where will you stand with insurance etc if you turn it off?? If there are any car enthusiasts, as opposed to marketeers and businessmen, left in the industry surely they’d realise tactility and response will become more important than outright ability? You did make me laugh/smile with the eyesight bit though thanks!
IMHO ‘sporting’ cars should become less powerful, but more biddable to the driver’s wishes. The technology to make that happen is more available than ever, and leave the Tesla’s and co to their (very impressive) 0-60 battles.
Though, having been on Rita several times, I’m not sure how controllable 0-60 in 2 seconds is. I prefer the second wind at 110 in an E60 M5, but, sadly, enjoying that sort of thing in the public domain is becoming less and less acceptable.

The very low CoG and polar moment does allow and EV to handle and corner far better than the weight would seem imply. That takes a bit of getting used to. It is subtedly different when compared to say my old modified S1 Exige where weight transfer front to rear and vice versa had a major impact on handling and cornering.
I wonder what the weight distribution is for this M4?

Be interested to know if you’d had any trouble with the DCT. Matt Watson pulled a reliability survey which suggested it was a ‘problem’ along with the turbos, and wondered if that was why BMW changed to the 8spd ZF. Reckon BMW have been a little sensitive over reliability in the last few years.

From what I gather the DCT boxes seem a little less reliable in cars with turbos. They are pretty much bullet proof in the E9x M3s. Baddie said:

The DCT has been fine for me up to yet in the F82 M4(touchwood). However I haven't used launch control though, and the car only had 13k miles on it when it got it, and it is now on 39k miles. philmots said:
This will likely be ultimate road car and people are moaning about how it looks.
Be grateful stuff like this is still being made, nobody else is doing it as good.
Agreed. They’ve sold many, thankfully, I see them everywhere and quite like the looks. I’ve not driven the CS but have a couple of competitions and they’re just brilliant. Be grateful stuff like this is still being made, nobody else is doing it as good.
I’d be very happy to have this sat on my drive.

(hideous glory) - funny... one consolation being that you'd be able to sleep at night knowing it was still there every morning.Edited by pacdes on Saturday 18th May 12:50
