To add to that-

'Can't get the seat right due to the dual stage dash and seat/steering wheel movement.

I can't get it in a comfortable/drive able position.

Useless.

Drove my old one today for the first time in a couple weeks......it's just better lol'

FN2? You need an FD2.
I wish, an FD2 is about double my budget.

Hopefully viewing a couple more over the weekend.
...and more than a little stiffer, too, even on ASTs. Diff-equipped FN2 probably a better bet if you don't need back doors and don't want that last 10-15% of handling ability.

With regard to 'raw', over the last 10.5 years I've spent 9 of them commuting in 2 different DC2s (close to 100k miles, the first 3 saw me doing c.15k a year to/from clients and B'ham centre (expansion joints between J5 and J6!). M'ways were a bit of a chore, but otherwise it was just fine.

...and with the exception of ride quality, the FD2 is an easier commute in most regards - quieter, nicer interior, better stereo, more practical, 33-35mpg on a long run...so I'd expect the FN2 to be equally 'refined'.

Which is a long way of saying go for it!

Fingers crossed I've found the one. Should be viewing on Tuesday and if it all checks out I'll be doing the deal.

A good friend on mine has the FN2 typeR. The suspension is very hard and not really great for long commutes as I can see it getting a bit uncomfortable. However the engine seems good and its got some power.

Its well spec'd inside and the seats are very comfortable. Plus it has bags of space and the boot is pretty large.

Setting off shortly to view the most likely candidate so far.

Good choice mate! I've had two, both red, loved it.

Yep, ride is ridiculous, but loved it never the less. Interior is a nice place to be, good mpg on a run, and that engine! Tracked it a few times too, handles good, but watch the brakes, I got through a set of pads each time.

Were they good cars? Oh yes. The twunt who stole my first one must have thought so (engine found two weeks later, rest of the car never seen again!), and the second one I got to replace it was brilliant. So good, I sold it to my friend and he's still got it three years later.

Downsides? Never heard of the paint fading and my old one is still very, very red, but yes, they chip, and check the top of the windscreen rubber. The stereo is rubbish, I retro fitted the bassworks kit which was marginally better with aftermarket speakers too. Ambient lighting is cool, and buy a Japanese type-r key cover from eBay or your dealer. It's only one side of the key, but the Honda H is red and looks cool. Yes, little things please me!

Great car mate, good choice!

2007 Civic Type R GT on 32,000 miles with HKS RSK induction kit. So, so, so chuffed. It's really civilized pottering around and then you can unleash it and it scampers for the horizon at a rate of knots while howling like banshee.

Congrats, looks great, can't beat that new car buzz smile

A lot of mentions in the thread regarding ride quality, is there a nice compliant suspension kit available for them?

A lot of people recommend the Eibach -15mm lowering springs as improving it a fair bit but it's the dampers that make the ride pretty hard. I've done approx 100 miles mixed driving in it today and to be honest I don't think it's as bad as people make out, but then I like a firm ride. I do wonder if tyre choice makes a difference as this one is on Bridgestones but one I test drove on Dunlops felt a lot worse.

I have run my FN2 since 2010 and used it for business and had car allowances paid by 2 different companies albeit at 14 pence per mile. Reliability has been pretty good and as most of my clients are in the city it's the perfect car for parking and then a quick dash to the next appointment. The V-Tec is a bit addictive especially with an induction kit fitted but I'm not often late for anything. I've done 35,000 miles in mine and enjoyed every one

Mad??! Would you be mad for buying a mass-produced Japanese hatchback to use as a daily driver?

I wouldn't want to be around when you let your hair down...someone could get hurt!

Car looks nice smile

Very nice smile best colour and wheel combo too wink

Really miss that great interior from my old FN2 - much more special feeling than my current Megane's plain and functional interior.

I do about 15k pa in my EP3, so using a more modern version with nicer interior to do similar mileage isn't exactly fulfilling my idea of "mad"

Pah! I used to do 1500 a week in mine. After 23 months and 125,000 miles someone got a 1 owner EP3 bargain!

Haven't kept very up to date on this thread. Nice to see you've found one and it looks really smart.

Sorry but 'EP3' and 'raw' always make me chuckle a bit.
^^This.

I've been looking at them to get one in the new year as it's more refined than anything else in my price range and with similar fun factor. When you compare it to Ph1 172, DC2, EK9 etc etc it's basically a german barge in comparison.
