Are you saying this is an illegal sale?

The seller is offering vin plates and a log book,

listing said:
Could be used with an Elf/Hornet or normal mini shell for a rebuild if so desired.
In other words "could be used to change the identity of another Elf or Mini".

listing said:
The documents are for historic interest only if bought without the shell, engine etc.
So the shell has been scrapped and not declared to the DVLA.

Yes, I see your point. Not much help in a restoration really if there is no semblence of the original vehicle.

His other listing he's "aledgedly" selling his Mums Corsa because it's too big for her and she wants a Mini. Wouldn't be poetic justice if his mums Mini gets stolen and they use his vin plates and log book to ring it? cop

See, I just had this rose tinted view of someone having all these random Elf bits but no documents, who wanted to put a car as close to the original back on the road. smile

Either the Ringing kit got lifted by eBay or you sore sense and removed it yourself. PistonHeads is an open forum and there are two sides to every story. So if you would like to comment on the thread as to why you thought it was okay to sell vehicles identity you are more than welcome.
I'm thinking of forwarding details via this link from now on as well.

04 Corsa's about the same size as a Mk3 Escort. So it can get a bit roomy in there.

Invited both to comment on here as to why they think it's okay to sell ringing kits. If the don't and I get a reply to the message I'll post it here.

Got the SP&L guys on the case as well now (hopefully). Until the identities are used on a stolen vehicle legally there isn't a lot the Police can do but the DVLA are more then happy to issue £40-£80 fines for log books that are lost in the post let alone kept deliberately so they can be sold on.

Here's an email address thanks to DefCon5 on the SP&L thread.

vehiclefraud@avcis.pnn.police.uk

If we forward the eBay listing details to these guys when we post them here (copy and paste the whole page in case eBay remove the listing before they get chance to see it) hopefully the long arm can reach these muppets. cop
