Latest Techart GTstreet R gets Touring treatment

Want an 800hp 911 Turbo, plus tan leather and a ducktail? Techart to the rescue...

We all know what Touring means in Porsche parlance: same mechanical package, with a slightly more restrained look. So popular was its return for the old 991 that the current Touring Package (with green paint and caramel leather, of course, like everyone else) seems more in demand than having a GT3 with a wing. Just look at how the world fawned over the Sport Classic, too. Seemingly inspired by both those cars, Techart now has just announced something it’s calling the GTstreet R Touring.

Mechanically, and appropriately, this loses nothing to a regular GTstreet R. Standard spec is just the 60hp more than a Turbo S, though that does mean 710hp; alongside 664lb ft, or a 74lb ft uplift, it’s going to be plenty fast enough. Or there’s the 800hp version, of course, with Techart’s turbos, ECU work and ‘optimised engine management. They say it’ll do 217mph, passing 62mph before you can say 'Techart GTstreet R Touring'. The new exhaust is hand-welded, promising ‘an exhilarating experience on both daily driver and racetracks’.

It’s no mere ‘bahnstormer, either, with a 30mm wider front track (so it’s really, really going to turn in with four-wheel steer as well), forged wheels (or aero discs if you wish) and 25mm lower sports springs. Techart even has its own coilovers for maximum attack, though still retaining a noselift for those wanting to use it every day.

With the RS-style vent at the front wheelarches, prominent rear diffuser and near-vertical spoiler, this clearly isn’t a 911 to just blend in with every other. On the other hand, the average passer-by may not immediately twig the hypercar humbling potential. Techart’s aerokit for the GTstreet R Touring is all carbon and made of 40 parts (including the bonnet, front wings, skirts and rear apron); that unmissable ducktail is made from the black stuff, too, said to be 60 per cent lighter than the usual Turbo spoiler as well as boasting increased downforce. Cooling is improved in addition thanks to the extra air ducts.

Techart has ticked off all the Touring must-haves inside as well, with every surface adorned by leather, carbon, aluminium or Alcantara for a ‘luxurious yet sporty ambience’. Every converted GTstreet R gets the Techart steering wheel, but those going all out will want the interior package with even more leather, embossed details, custom stitching and ‘heritage fabrics’. Presumably, that’s the spec seen in these images.

The tuner says it will convert 25 examples of the 911 Turbo S to GTstreet R Touring spec, with prices starting at €98,250, or a little less than £84k. That really is just the start, though, as that number doesn’t include tax, paint, or installation, plus it’ll be just the 710hp and without the jazziest interior. So definitely expect it to cost more than £100,000 for the whole hog, although it’s worth pointing out that six figures could be spent on this 600-mile Turbo S and it’d still be less than most Sport Classics are advertised at. And they don’t get 800hp…

That side profile is stunning, but I don't think I want TECHART written on the back!

I quite fancy that ducktail on my C2S I wonder what the impact on the aero is though……. probably need to sell a kidney to buy one.

I do love a 911, but it’s gotta be fast approaching the car with most iterations of anything, ever, apart from maybe the Fiat 500/Abarth

It seems to be confused as to what it wants to be. It has elements of GT3 RS, Turbo, Touring and Dakar all plastered on top of each other and mixed up. The result is quite... fussy.

Another unobtainium 911 iteration. Nice photo.

The black plastic arch extensions make it look a bit Rover Streetwise but the gold/green combo is lovely

Me neither TBH. The green and gold combo is lovely though. Reminds me of my first Impreza Turbo 2000 AWD bought new, that was green with gold wheels and looked amazing smile

Agreed that most Porsche GT products are unobtanium, but surely this is open for anyone to buy, presuming they have (a lot of) money?

I like the look of this. Take a Turbo (plenty of those available) and make it more special and closer to look to a GT product. This will end up being cheaper too - certainly cheaper than buying a flipped GT3 or GT3 RS.

Makes the £163k Turbo S link in article look decidedly boring. Never a big fan of the chrome window surrounds personally.

Do quite like what Techart are trying to do here by jazzing up a Turbo. As others have said, would want to keep the Porsche lettering and perhaps turn it down a notch or too on the interior but liking the vibe.

I do like that, especially the green one. If I won the lottery I think I'd be tempted, but probably a little put-off by the fact the next 911 is on the horizon.
Still... a dillema I'd be happy to face.

If you could dial the styling back about 20% and get better wheels, it'd be lovely. The profile is great with the ducktail, the black plastic everywhere, not so much.

I think if you get rid of the stripes (assume unpainted carbon) and paint all the black carbon fibre parts, then it would look stunning
