I do sympathize with a company such as Zagato. They have employees who need to be paid every month. But they have, as far as I am aware, no steady business .
38 employees with an annual turnover of around 14 million a year. I would imagine their design department are pretty successful in all the areas they operate..
I think anyone that pays £90k for the A110R with the same engine as the £53k base model is completely bonkers (yes, I know you get more power but you could get that from a remap). €650k plus taxes for the same engine would make you outright certifiable. Rare, yes, but not in a million years special enough to justify that sort of money.
If I were spending that sort of money on a Zagato, it would be this. Infinitely better looking and much closer to justifying the price.

I am surprised to see so many negative comments about the looks. Different people, different tastes I guess.
I personally love this. I think it looks absolutely amazing and it reminds me of Le Mans racing cars of the 60s. Especially with the long tail on it's gorgeous.

Whilst it most definitely refers back to the long tails of the 60's and 70's, it's doing it within 21st century rules, and I'm going to hold them and the pen holders lack of finesse proportion wise for creating this... it's close, but not close enough. It's just 'off'.
Great intentions
but 'off'.
I wonder what happens about light connections and parking sensors (lol)
It feels like it could be a real faff to change - i bet of the total build many of them get a tail swap once and everyone say f*** that.
The blue one with the horizontal rear lights looks ok actually (ie without the long tail) , and is that two bolt hole recesses i see at the sides in the long tail in what would be the bumper area - if so that looks a bit sloppy.

I imagine a world where they did some market research and identified 20 billionaire Zagato super fans with big car collections, then released 19 cars to generate some FOMO between them. They'll need this for their collections regardless of any rational decision-making process other people would follow around looks / price / value / etc.

I think that's almost certainly what happened or something fairly close to that. A rather depressing / cynical business to be in, spending your days dreaming up completely pointless tat to tempt the ultimate in magpie consumerists.
