Finally: Dinkel is a carjourno

More of that tasty w110 Wagon by Binz.
Mercedes-Benz heaven: on the left a mint two owner s123 NA 3 litre fivepot diesel and on the right an extremely rare w110 190d built by Binz.
The Binz car is a survivor and only slightly restored.
The pleasure to drive an s123 Kombi is immense. Why did cars evolve into ugly, big and heavy blobs of steel and plastic?
I like to think of this gem as a lower version of a 70s Jeep Cherokee.

Any 105-series is a potential drivers car: they can be made very good.
More from the June 2023 Octane Scramble 03
Cabrio galore and ths Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster was the star of the show
Cute and rare Honda S600 cab
Pocket screamer: 600cc Honda bike engine
Isn't this shade of yellow the best color on a 916 Spider?
DT Longchamp next to the pretty Alfa Twinny Spider

FYI: April 7 2024 there will be a next Dutch Octane C&C, with well over 300 cars present.
Maybe PM for info.
Impressive De Tomaso Pantera rear. Probably the most affordable and maintainable of all 70s supersports cars.
The original car had a 335ps hipo Ford 351 Cleveland in. After having sold 5,500 cars Ford stopped engagement in 1975. As from 1980 a refined GTS was ready to keep up with the competition. Some had a Cleveland, some had a Windsor V8. There's enough room to play around and drop virtually any engine of choice.
The original Tom Tjaarda design is a clean cut early 70s street racer. Over the years the DTP got extra bits and in the last incarnation the late Marcello Gandini moved some lines. I prefer the 70s model. This one says 1990, so it must be the last of the line before the Si kicked in.
Triumph Dolomite Sprint, and in my favorite coler lavender.
Lancia has become a favorite brand for many old and new classic car enthusiasts. Dunno if this is an original but I like it.

Great day out yesterday: about 37 Alfa Romeo Spider types (105 ao, 916, 939 and 4C) flying through the lovely Dutch Green Heart area:
Nice invitation because last October we bought this 2002 Twinny.
About ten 916 phase 1 & 2 cars joined our Twinny. Here's another black one.
No Duetto but all other members of the iconic 105-series Spider were present. I love one in an orange red hue.

300SL and 300SEL heaven:
The R107 300SL and the w126 300SEL are true 80s icons and represent a classic era for Mercedes-Benz: robust, classy, comfortable and made to last. The new 3 litre engine is a step up compared with the 60s 2.8 straight six.
This particular R107 used to be owned and driven by Dutch business tycoon Sylvia Toth. A fantastic driver this.
The SEL has royal heritage: former Queen Juliana transportation.

More on that recent Alfa Romeo Spider outing:
Drop dead gorgeous 1985 twolitre.
Zoe Yellow 916 on Teardrops caught my eye.
Racy GTV after a mild shunt will be tiptop within weeks. I need those foam intake caps in my life.
Threeliter 12v on Novitec and 18" > a bit too much for me but still a clean cut minter.
Fantastic way to spend a sunday. About 37 teams thought so too.

So many great photos. but for some reason the pen holder in the Mini caught my attention. Presumably it's for taking pace notes? As a nav you need to handle the maps on a mapboard on your lap, follow the route (sometimes draw the route on the fly), record the code boards that you drive past, and regularly pass one of two clipboards to marshalls at time controls. If you drop your pen it's a bugger! Hence having a spare on the dash would be handy
