I did all my lessons and test in a Toyota Yaris

the digital dash was in the middle

and for a few months after I had a habit of looking at the centre

i was driving a Polo

wore off but it was a bloody nightmare

I love a cheesey period digi-dash, I'm rocking one in the Forty. Naff and ever so cool in equal measure, I find it adds to my enjoyment of the car.

1983 Mitsubishi Cordia

I can only assume that Mitsubishi engineers of the '70s and '80s believed that's how people in the west look? With the extraordinary Roman nose.

This thread is incomplete without this:

But these must be photoshopped, as they are working.

looks like a styling dept mock up of a Renault 21 hatch before the production engineers get hold of it to make it practical to make on a conventional production line

And the 90's/00's! FTO, Galant and Legnums all had a slightly smaller representation of the same man on the Climate control panel. (including nose)

Gotta love the Citroen ones... I remember getting a lift in one of the ones with the cylindrical speedo...

I would say it does actually look like its namesake!

I loved my Corvette C4 with it's interchangebale imperial/metric switching:

Had a GTE 16v after but it wasn't anything like as expansive.

Had orange digital figures inside round dials in a recent Citroen C4 hire car - rubbish to be honest thugh the old revolving yellow drum "digital" speedo on the GSA and CX made your eyes go funny.

Wasn't the MG Maestro the first in the UK to get a digital dash? about 1983?

Wasn't that spectacular iirc, just different. And it had the annoying voice to go with it. Nice induction roar from the weber carb (s?) though on the early models before they squeezed in the 2 litre lump and went back to conventional dials.

My friend had a Fiat Tipo as a first car. I did love his digital dash, I was pretty jealous at the time.

The prelude dash was awesome, the S2000 isn't quite as old but still a pretty cool dash.

I remember my dad looking round one at a motor show when they were just put on sale.
He turned on the ignition and the car announced "Warning! something something something", the speech was terrible, and to the embaracement of the salesman, my sister turned to him and said "Morning? What does it say in the afternoon?" laugh
