911 996 Tiptronic Problem?
Discussion
I have a 1998 911 996 Tiptronic S which suffers from slightly bumpy gear changes from 1st-2nd-3rd and then smooth thereafter.
If I drive it in manual mode its smooth from 1st thru 5th but in auto mode the changes are not as smooth as they used to be.
A colleagues Launch diagnostics flagged up a problem with a solenoid pressure relief valve so we replaced that (and did an oil change at the same time) which helped but has not totally cured it.
Any suggestions gratefully received???

Given that the tip only pulls away in first when cold I'm surprised it's that much of an issue. Mine literally only uses first when I first pull off the drive, then it pulls away in 2nd. It only uses first if you go to ull away quickly, at which point it drops to 1st with a bit of a jolt or if you flick it to 1st with the buttons. If your box is always selecting 1st you have an issue.
Refilling the box with fluid needs to be done very carefully and precisely. To get the level right the box has to be at 40 degrees I think. The wrong fluid levels can cause issues.
It's also worth resetting the adaption values in the software. It drives a bit jerky for a while after until it learns the change points again but it worth doing.
