Which Air-cooled 911 should i buy?
Discussion
I've been thinking for a while about getting a 911. But i've already decided that the newer (water-cooled) 911's are not really my cup of tea. I'm more a fan of the classic 911's, the air-cooled ones.
Question is, which is the best one to buy today?
I would love an early one (like us all) but i've always been a fan of the 3.2 Carrera, 930 Turbo & 993 & preferably a good one.
Please fire away other suggestions!
Thanks
Rob

Only you can decide, but you could define 'best' for us.Question is, which is the best one to buy today?

If it's occasional use for wafting, I'd look for a 930 or a 3.2 Supersport (and pay the premium for that gorgeous wide-body), but as an all rounder that you can cross continents in, do a track-day, go to the shops, and still have no depreciation, it's a narrow-bodied 993 you'll be wanting.

1. Personally I think they look 'wrong' - the standard 993 looks 'right' and looks as wide as all of the previous wide-bodied versions (if that makes any sense.
2. they cost more for a car with less ability.
...and start the old bun-fight....
I'm with you OC having just purchased a 993 C2 coupe with 64k miles at a very sensible price compared to wide-body cars; leaves more in the pot for fettling and getting the car just how you like it.2. they cost more for a car with less ability.

I've had a 3.2 Supersport in the past and to be honest, I found it a bit agricultural; I think the 993 is the 'sweet-spot' before the newer water-cooled cars, IMHO, of course
