I would like to take my car over to France , Portsmouth -Le Harve or St Malo suits me best as I live in the SW. Anyone had experience of getting on and off over the loading ramps on DFDS or Brittany Ferries. Ie is it do able without ripping the front splitter off or grounding out the bottom of the car?

Funny, I've got exactly the same issue but maybe slightly worse (lower) 997 GT2, looked at taking the front lip off, it's held on by half a dozen torx bolts, but only saves about 3/4 inch in height, I think I'd rather it deform / scrape a bit to protect the lower bumper behind it.

Already booked ticket in April from Portsmouth to Caen, so committed now! Eek.

Not sure if it helps but ive had various sports cars with low front splitters and currently have the 997 Turbo S and have never had problem with Ferries. I took the Turbo across to France last year (dover ferries though) and didnt have any problems and these ferries do have a severe dip where the ramp connects with the ferry. So long as you go slowly and at an angle it should be fine. never had problems in past.

have taken my many times into Europe on ferries etc. No issues, just need to watch where you are driving, or drive diagonally across the ramps. Only once have the ferry loading guys run out with planks wood to reduce drop onto the ferry.

If you approach fast enough Rob you will miss the boarding ramp between land and ferry and stop in your parking place:-)
You'll be fine in a 997 turbo, used to take mine over Dover to Calais when we lived in Brussels and it's no problem.....

Santander to Portsmouth ferry in a 997.1 GT3 - no problems, just go slow.

If you have a concern, let the guys at the port know and they will put you on a lower deck.

Also, watch out for the huge anchor points on the decks, they can slice a low profile tyre if you are not careful, just go very slowly.
