So I called Porsche, finally got through after about 20 minutes - these 991 GT3 owners were clogging up the phones, something about non mezger engines being st. Dummies being spat all over the place. Anyway I digress.

Apparently, Porsche don't make an outdoor cover for the 997.1 GT3, although they do for a Turbo and Carreras.

So what do you guys have (with pics please!) and what do you recommend? I am aware about all the detailing points, e.g. don't cover when dirty etc... the car will be used on dry weekends only, so may sit under the cover for a week or some weeks most of the time when clean.

More pics the better please!!!!

Cheers

S1MMA, if you are still out there in the sandpit, I recommend the Carcoon with built in dehumidifier. My race car was stored in one of those for months at a time at ARM (outside). The paintwork is still in great shape despite the extreme heat and humidity. Not cheap though.

Hi mate, I've moved back to London now actually, IVA'd the GT3 yesterday, passed first time no problems.

I was worried about the noise test after reading about your issues, but thankfully didn't have a problem.

Your GT3 is on the road now right?

Pleased to hear that.

Yup, back on the road. My BBS wheels have been away being refurbed for the last 2 months! So frustrating esp now the weather is improving.

I used a carcoon for a while too (albeit on a 997.1 c2s) and was happy with it.

Hi guys, thanks for the suggestions. I'm looking for a top quality fitted cover, tailored to the shape of the car - I don't want a generic sized cover...

Any pics of what you guys use???

Sorry no pics with the cover on! The Auto Pyjama is very good quality and also custom tailored to the car model. The website has them on what looks like a 964 so you can get an idea of the sort of fit you can expect.

I bought a Softech cover from coveryourcar.co.uk for my Lancia a few years back. Soft fleece for indoor use. They tailored it to my exact dimensions (even asked me the angle on the rear spoiler!), added contrasting piping plus a Lancia logo. The only downside is the logo has come loose recently but otherwise I thought they did a good job.

I have an outdoor waterproof breathable cover for a 997.1 GT3. I have sold the car so it's sitting in my garage.

Pm me for details if you want.

Cheers,

Las
