Hi, I have a 997 Cab and with the recent weather (very wet) and my lack of garage space - water is building up in the rear drivers side footwell. Has anyone experienced a problem like this and resolved it? I'm guessing it might be a problem with the roof seals? I did have a similar problem with a previous 996 but put it down to getting caught in a rainstorm once.

I had a similar problem with my 997.1 C4s Cab some years ago which was caused by the gap flaps adjoining the tops of the rear wings not operating properly and getting caught between the closed hood and bodywork thus leaving a small gap which allowed water ingress.....thumbup

Also might be worth checking the lower part of the door interior trim - our 987 leaked here when the plastic door liners let go and then the wet gets in the car.

Hi Can you check for wet under the rear seat base cushion, its secured by velcro, if its wet uder seat then i would look at side quarter window drain tubes blocking up.

Guys, how do you access and clear the drain tubes as I have the aforementioned water collection under the one rear swat squab?

Kind regards

Hi Medeaval take the speaker out and you will see a plastic drain tube, these are splitting causing the water to go under rear squab, also poor some water into the little water collector to make sure its draining away fast enough.

CD1957 (Chris) many thanks - pollen and plant debris had blocked the pipes. And thanks to all for contributing - it was interesting getting to know the inner works of my door panels and flaps, the general maintenance helped no doubt.

I think this is normally 100% drainage tubes that simply block with crud.....

OPC normally will clear these at service especially if prompted !

Most cabs seem to have this issue at some time and it is a very simple and common issue so don't worry.

In the meantime, Northway (I think it was) explained it all to me and suggested taking out the rear (Velcro fixed) seat base and using a Sunday times to soak up the damp or water and protect any electrics etc and avoid mould but DO NOT IGNORE it and do get the tubes cleared. It's a few minute job for an expert and/so I never did it!

I will try and find the threads I was on previously re this same issue smile

It could be something else but you need to check this fix first..... Or pop into OPC or Northway who may even do it while you wait (not OPC unless you are a good customer/warranty etc)

HTH?
