PARR 996 RS....
Discussion
I'd welcome thoughts and opinions on this car. Anyone have any knowledge of this specific example?

Here you are. Most of the 40k miles its done have at 8/9/10ths on track - I'm not sure what this equates to in road mileage and when if at all GT3s which have competed in competition need engine refresh/rebuilds as a matter of routine. Same on gearbox I suppose. Its basically an RS that been transformed into a cup car and competed in Time Attack comp. Can't imagine there's a better track car out there if thats your bag.

It's been punted around by various dealers for the last 9 months at least IIRC.
As the owner of a heavily modified GT3 myself, I think that this one has been taken too far to attract very many people now. It's virtually a road-registered Cup car and will be very noisy & tiring to drive for any distance given its complete lack of interior trim. The value of it being a genuine RS has been completely debased by being stripped & modded to the extent it has been. As for claiming £80K to develop the car... When you actually strip out many of the costs for Parr checkovers, maintenance, pads, geos etc. what remains is actually not that big a parts spend. If all the original parts are still available to return it to standard then it might be a project for someone, but I still believe the money is far too strong for what it is.
It's always dangerous for future saleability to modify cars to this extent & I think this one is proof of that.

SCOM had it for sale for quite a while (it featured in 'GT Purely Porsche' who appear to exist mainly to market SCOM stock) and then it's been for sale with a couple of small dealers who i don't know anything about. i guess there's not much 996 RS left in it now, but if it dips sub £50k then surely someone will look kindly upon it ?
Used to be owned by Tim Chandler - used in Time Attack, etc. There's mention of his 996 GT3 RS here at para 5:

"One reader, Tim Chandler, has stopped driving his 996 GT3 RS on the Ring and instead has an M3 GT very similar to mine. Why? Well, you only have to see the look on the face of someone who’s just bent their RS to understand."
Of course, he may have owned more than one 6RS.

The blue one is tucked up safe and warm in my garage for the past 8 years. It's a keeper and worth more than I paid for it, not that it matters. It's a mint car and just been treated to all the carbon bits and wheels refurb. Tim had the Parr stage 2 ego done on the car before I got it and the handling on the road and track is superb. Every drive is an event, the best drivers car I've owned.

Ok, then by a process of elimination, the 2008 Evo article must be about the red car. Sounds like it was crashed at the Nürburgring then 'developed' by Parr. 'Developed' must be a euphemism for 'repaired'.The blue one is tucked up safe and warm in my garage for the past 8 years. It's a keeper and worth more than I paid for it, not that it matters.
