Had a 911 S for half a day from my local dealer which I loved and am in the process of trying to secure a GT3 (wish me luck)!. I just want to query those that know the car more that the only thing that was off-putting was the rather tinny rattly sounds from the rear? Maybe this is a feature of the reduced run exhaust system possible (never having owned a rear engined car)? I was prompted to ask as there were a few at an event I attended yesterday and in a 911 driving away I again heard this tinny sound and (forgive me for still having boy racer blood) it just sounded so un-sporty compared to my last non family car (a TVR V8 with no cats). Since then much regs have come in but as I kinda fell in love with the balance and PDK of that 911 and its lovely NA urge I'd just like some input there.

Cheers

Exhaust heat shields are quite prone to coming loose which can sound like the noise you refer to.

Yes that was the kind of noise - but these two were brand spankers. BB

In that case I'd say its the normal sort of noise that these engines make.
